Drinking four cups of coffee a day can help protect you from the risk of oral cancer. But, doctors recommend not drinking coffee in excessive doses. Therefore, caffeine in it can increase heart rate and blood pressure.
Some of the 1,000 chemicals contained in coffee - including antioxidants - may offer protection against various types of cancer. That's according to a study team from the University of Utah, USA.
The study consisted of nine studies conducted in Europe, America and Central America, by comparing the coffee drinking habits of about 5000 patients with cancer and more than 9,000 healthy people. From the study was also seen smoking, eating and alcohol consumption. The researchers found that regular coffee drinkers the risk of oral and esophageal cancer, 39 percent lower than people who do not drink coffee.

"We have a large enough sample and we combine data from many studies. We have more statistical power to detect between cancer and coffee," said Mia Hashibe, the lead researcher, as quoted from the Times of India.
Studies on the relationship between coffee and cancer, according to some people a bit confusing and sometimes contradictory results. That's because coffee can be a marker of other lifestyle factors that can increase the risk of cancer, such as smoking and alcohol consumption.
